The problem
In October 2018, an international architecture studio in San Francisco suffered a catastrophic failure of their EonNAS 3016RT1 server. The server held three decades of archived projects plus live data for current clients. Files were stored on disks in a RAID 10 configuration with a ZFS file system. A disk failed, and – with IT stretched thin at the 100-person firm – another disk failed during remediation. To make things worse, the backup that should have contained the archive was nowhere to be found.
The challenge
The studio first shipped the EonNAS to DriveSavers, which had succeeded for them before on single disks. This was different. DriveSavers spent months trying to mount a readable file system, then shipped it back with the verdict: “Unfortunately, after extensive time and effort, we confirmed recovery was not possible in this case.”
Our approach
The studio found ACE RAID Recovery and shipped the EonNAS to Texas. Our engineers examined the drives and took on the challenge – reconstructing the RAID 10 and ZFS layers with in-house tools developed for complex enterprise and NAS arrays. The result
The studio’s EonNAS ZFS server was recovered – a case another major recovery company had declared impossible. [ПРОВЕРИТЬ: добавить точные детали результата]
