RAID Basics
What is RAID?
RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) combines multiple drives into one logical volume for performance, redundancy, or both. Common levels: RAID 0 (striped, no redundancy), RAID 1 (mirrored), RAID 5 (striped with parity), RAID 6 (double parity), RAID 10 (mirrored and striped).
RAID 5 vs. RAID 6 – which is safer?
What is a RAID rebuild?
After a drive failure, the array recalculates the missing data from the remaining drives and parity. If a second drive fails or has hidden errors during the rebuild, the array crashes – and a bad rebuild can corrupt everything.
Recovery Process
How long does RAID data recovery take?
Typically 3-15 days, depending on complexity and data volume. Emergency service runs 24-48 hours.
Remote or in-lab – which do I need?
Do I need to send the RAID controller?
No – we rebuild arrays virtually and don’t need your controller or original hardware.
Pricing & Guarantees
How much does data recovery cost?
Most RAID cases run $1,000-$2,500 per disk, depending on the case. The evaluation is free.
What does “no data, no fee” mean?
If we can’t recover your data, you pay nothing – not for evaluation, not for work.
Do you ship a free kit?
Yes – we’ll arrange a shipping kit and instructions for your case; or use our Work Order Form.
Device-Specific
Do you recover NAS devices?
Yes – Synology, QNAP, Drobo, ReadyNAS, TeraStation.
Do you recover virtual machines?
Yes – VMware, Hyper-V, VMDK, VHDX, VMFS. See VM recovery.
Emergency
How fast is emergency recovery?
24-48 hours with a priority lab slot. Call 844-223-7243 and say it’s an emergency.
Do you work 24/7?
Our engineers answer the phone around the clock – including weekends and holidays.
Still have questions?
Call 844-223-7243 – engineers answer 24/7 – or start a case online for a free evaluation. No data, no fee.
